Abstract

MMR and IMR in Indonesia are still high, recorded at 29,945. Based on data from the Maternal Perinatal Death Notification (MPDN), the Ministry of Health's maternal death recording system, the number of maternal deaths in 2022 reached 4,005 and in 2023 increased to 4,129 (WHO, 2020). Poor handling of healthy newborns will cause abnormalities that can result in lifelong disabilities, even death. Problems that occur in newborns include asphyxia, hypothermia, infection (Maternity, et al., 2020). Efforts made by the government to reduce IMR include, among others, Improving Neonatal Health Services, namely by requiring every newborn to receive Neonatal Visit services at least 3 times (KN1, KN2 and KN3) according to standards and Handling of neonates with abnormalities or complications/emergencies according to health worker standards, the services of which include Integrated Management of Young Infants (MTBM), Management of Newborn Asphyxia, Management of Low Birth Weight Infants (Kementrian Kesehatan RI, 2020). This study aims to provide midwifery care for newborns in an independent midwife practice. The author uses a descriptive method with a SOAP midwifery care management approach, the author observes the baby's condition and conducts 3 neonatal visits. This midwifery care was carried out from May 28 to June 3, 2024. It can be concluded that the management of midwifery planning is carried out in accordance with the principles of midwifery care management using SOAP and the theoretical basis is used as a guide so that the focus of the case study is in accordance with the facts in the field.
